AALL Government Documents Special Interest Section Awards Student Grant

The Government Documents Special Interest Section of the American
Association of Law Libraries (AALL GD-SIS) is pleased to announce the
winner of its 2000 Student Grant: Ms. Donna Nixon, J.D., currently
enrolled in the M.L.S. program at the School of Information and Library
Science, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and working as
Graduate Assistant, Kathrine R. Everett Law Library, University of North
Carolina, Chapel Hill. Ms. Nixon has been awarded $400 to attend the AALL
Annual Meeting in Philadelphia this July. Ms. Nixon's strong interest in
a career in law librarianship and in government information is reflected
in her clerking experience in the Texas Attorney General's Office, her
library school course work, and her role as Reference Assistant in the
Everett Law Library.

Designed to encourage future law librarians to explore the field of
government documents librarianship, the AALL GD-SIS Student Grant assists
a student currently enrolled in an ALA accredited library and information
studies master's program in attending the AALL Annual Meeting. Preference
is given to applicants who demonstrate interest in government information
and a career in law libraries. The AALL GD-SIS Grants Committee offers
its congratulations to Ms. Nixon, and its gratitude to all the grant
applicants.

The American Association of Law Libraries was founded in 1906 to promote
and enhance the value of law libraries to the legal and public
communities, to foster the profession of law librarianship, and to provide
leadership in the field of legal information.

The Government Documents SIS (GD-SIS) was established in 1974 to
disseminate information on government documents to AALL members, to
further the continuing education of law librarians in documents
librarianship, to coordinate the activities of law librarians in
representing their interests to public and private groups, and to work in
cooperation with documents groups in other associations and organizations.

For further information regarding the Association, the Section, and the
Annual Meeting & Conference, see our website at www.aallnet.org.

Government Documents SIS Grants Committee Chair, at
