Head of Reader Services
The Gonzaga University School of Law Library and Computing Center
(LLCC) invites applications for Head of Reader Services, a tenure-track
library faculty position.
Environment: The School of Law has just moved to its new building on
the banks of the Spokane River. Spokane, situated in the heart of the Inland
Northwest, is home to 400,000 people in the metro area. It offers many
opportunities for outdoor recreation, a four-season climate, and is the
cultural hub of the Inland Northwest. More information concerning the School

Position Responsibilities: The Head of Reader Services is
responsible for coordinating the overall management of the Center's Research
and Instruction Unit and Circulation Services Unit. This includes reference
services, circulation services, interlibrary loan, bibliographic
instruction, looseleaf filing, audiovisual services, computer-assisted legal
research and training, and computer lab applications support. This position
also involves active participation in presenting the LLCC's services to its
various constituencies. The successful applicant will also be asked to make
presentations to Legal Research and Writing classes on various aspects of
legal research.
Position Requirements: A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law
school, an M.L.S. or equivalent from an ALA-accredited school, and law
library experience are required. The successful applicant must have very
strong people skills and a solid sense of teamwork and service. Also
required are substantial experience with computer-assisted legal research
tools, including the Internet, and familiarity with office software such as
Microsoft Office and WordPerfect.
Starting Date and Compensation: The start date is August 1, 2000.
Salary and rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience. A
generous fringe package includes twenty days paid vacation, tuition waiver,
a choice of health insurance and retirement plans, and a life insurance
plan.
