Welcome to "Leadership Bytes" #2 - Wonderful World of Workshops

You will not want to miss attending one of the three workshops to be
held at the AALL Annual Meeting and Conference in Philadelphia. This
year's workshops will be offered on Saturday, July 15th, 2000 and each
will provide an indepth analysis of the topic in question , offer
practical experience to the attendees, and feature knowledgeable and
skilled speakers. Truly an all-round experience!

"Leadership: Create a Compelling Future" will pick up and run with the
conference theme, "Gateways to Leadership". The workshop will focus on
collaborative leadership and is designed for both new and more
experienced leaders. Here is your chance to learn five basic leadership
strategies: create a compelling future; let the customer drive the
organization; involve every mind; manage work horizontally; and build
personal credibility. Truly collaborative skills for today's law
librarian!

You too can become a leader in fathoming the mysterious world of
electronic licensing agreements if you attend "Electronic Licensing
Agreements". Become the envy of all your colleagues when you
demonstrate your knowledge of the legal framework of these agreements,
are able to negotiate agreements beneficial to the needs of your
institution, and can understand the technical requirements for various
electronic resources.

Perhaps you aim to be a leader in treaty research. Then, "Gateway to
Treaty Research in the Digital Age" is designed just for you. The
morning session of this two-part workshop will focus on the basics of
treaty development and research. The afternoon session will build on
this and will appeal to more seasoned treaty researchers who already
know the basics. Register for the whole workshop or just the afternoon
session. Imagine being able to speak knowingly of "travaux
preparatories" and the life cycle of a treaty! This workshop will be
held off-site at the University of Pennsylvania Biddle Law Library.

You must pre-register for all workshops as there will be no on-site
registration for workshops. The deadline for workshop registration is
June 1, 2000. Less than two weeks to decide which workshop you will
attend!
