Responsibilities: As a member of the Public Services reference team, provide
general research and reference services to all LRC patrons using both
traditional and computer-assisted legal resources. Serve as the international
and foreign law specialist within the reference team. Provide training and
instruction in the use of legal research tools in all formats. Assist in
development, evaluation, implementation, and revision of Public Services
policies and procedures. Give tours of the LRC. Supervise part-time student
assistants. May include evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications: M.L.S. degree from ALA-accredited library school; J.D. degree
from ABA-accredited law school; minimum of two years of law library experience
(academic setting strongly preferred); knowledge of traditional legal research
methods and legal reference work; knowledge of all forms of information
technology used in legal research and instruction; interest in specializing in
foreign and international law research; strong interpersonal skills; strong
problem-solving ability; excellent organizational, verbal and writing skills;
teaching ability; initiative and aptitude for planning and development.
Knowledge of international and foreign law resources and research methods;
supervisory experience; public services experience ; knowledge of LANs (local
area networks), Innovative Interfaces library automation system, and software
applications such as WordPerfect and QuattroPro preferred.
Starting Range: Minimum $42,000, depending upon qualifications

LIBRARY ASSISTANT 3/CIRCULATION ASSISTANT
Responsibilities: Staffs library circulation desk. Responsible for the
operation of the library in the absence of supervisors/administrators. Assists
patrons in the use of the online public access catalog. Answers the main
library telephones. Enforces library policies. Provides limited reference
assistance. Maintains the Reserve collection. Assists with LRC operations for
the local university libraries interlibrary loan consortium. Files looseleaf
transmittals. Assists with photocopier and microforms service. Supervises a
Graduate Student Assistant and student workers in the absence of the Head of
Circulation and participates in their training and scheduling. May require
evening or weekend hours.
Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal skills; strong public services
orientation; supervisory experience; computer aptitude; strong verbal and
written skills; detail orientation, neatness and accuracy; ability to work
independently; mechanical aptitude. Experience in library public services
work; experience with the Innopac library system; familiarity with the Library
of Congress classification system and looseleaf filing; knowledge of
WordPerfect and spreadsheet software preferred.
Starting Range: $11.51-$12.94/hour
