(Please excuse duplicative postings)
This message has a tenuous connection with law librarians. In fact, my being
a Research Librarian in the NYC office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP is
about the only such connection, but...
To whatever degree you may be interested, my brother Charles has today been
awarded the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting. He is a Special
Correspondent with the Associated Press who, along with three colleagues,
broke the story of an alleged massacre of civilians by American soldiers near
the village of No Gun Ri in the first days of the Korean War and its
subsequent cover-up. The original story from September 1999 is available on
the Web, along with accounts of other incidents, at:
http://wire.ap.org/APpackages/nogunri/
Among the previous honors awarded recently in conjunction with the story are
the George Polk Award for International Reporting (Long Island University),
the SAIS-Novartis Prize for Excellence in International Journalism (Johns
Hopkins University) and the Madeline Dane Ross Award (Overseas Press Club).
In addition, on April 29, the Worth Bingham Prize for Investigative
Journalism will be presented by President Clinton at the White House
Correspondents' Association dinner.
Yeah, I'm kinda proud of my big brother Charlie!
FYI...The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism has a Web site
devoted to all the winners; it is: http://www.pulitzer.org
