Conference of Newer Law Librarians (CONELL)
July 15, 2000
Marriott Hotel, Philadelphia

Are you new to the law library profession? Are you interested in meeting
other colleagues in a relaxed, fun atmosphere? If so, you should plan on
attending the Conference of Newer Law Librarians (CONELL) in Philadelphia,
on Saturday, July 15.

CONELL, a long tradition of the AALL Annual Meeting, is designed to welcome
newer law librarians to the profession, introduce them to the
Association and its leadership, and provide a setting for people to get
acquainted with each other. If you have worked in a law library for 5 or
fewer years and plan to attend your first or second Annual Meeting, CONELL
is the right thing for you!

Highlights of this year's conference include:

- Introductions to the AALL leadership and their brief remarks;

- The Marketplace, which will feature comments by and exchanges with
representatives from the AALL Committees and Special Interest Sections;

- Ask the Experts, where veteran librarians will answer questions such
as how to build subject expertise, career paths in law librarianship, and so
forth;

- A special session, "From Rookie to Veteran: Tips and Advice for Job
Success," where both newer and seasoned librarians will share their
insights and secrets about job success, technology & time management,
and other topics of law librarianship.

At the conclusion of the conference, attendees will have luncheon at
Bookbinders (a fine seafood restaurant located in the historical area of
Philly) and then take a guided bus tour of some of the historical sites in
the city.

The information and registration forms for CONELL are included in the Annual
Meeting Program. The Private Law Libraries Special Interest Section is
offering grants for CONELL attendees. Information and application for the
grants can be found from http://www.aallnet.org/sis/pllsis/whatsnew.html.
