I was surprised to see the information about the Virus Alert today, because
I had opened the e-mail without any alert on my machine, and no other
recognized problems. I did contact my MIS group, because I wanted to know
why the message had not caused an alert for me. I was informed that we
have our Norton Utilities set up so all e-mail is scanned as it comes in,
and viruses are removed before it is even delivered to our individual
accounts. As a result, we have very few virus problems here. Perhaps more
of the MIS shops should be doing the same, then there would be fewer virus
problems. They would usually be caught before anyone was aware of them.

By the way, my MIS staff could even tell me the name of the virus that came
in on a message to me. That convinced me that they are on target for our
virus protection.
