I bet (& hope) that you got your answer on Friday. If not, here's
what I discovered in preparing a handout for our students about getting
more or less current transcripts. For the very lates, Aderson Reporting
Co. seems to be the only real choice and even then you need to wait until
about 5 days after the argument:
Oral Argument Transcripts
On LEXIS and WESTLAW
Oral argument transcripts are on LEXIS in the source GENFED;USTRAN.
Coverage begins in October 1989. The file is updated only once per
year, in the fall.
WESTLAW's collection of oral argument transcripts is in the
SCT-ORALARG database. Coverage begins with the 1990-91 term. Updating
is continuous throughout the term, and transcripts are generally
available about four weeks after the argument.
Via Commercial Transcription Service
For a fee, Alderson Reporting Company, which has the contract to
generate official transcripts for the Court, will provide
transcripts-which can be e-mailed. They can be reached at
1-800-FORDEPO (1-800-367-3376). Transcripts are available five
working days after the argument. The cost is about $2.85 per page
plus $35 for shipping and handling. For transcripts more current than
those on WESTLAW, this appears to be the only option.
