I have been asked to summarize for the list the responses received regarding
my 3/16 request for recommendations regarding specialty/rare/out-of-print
book dealer for tech materials.
Bill Katz of the Second Circuit suggested using <http://www.bookfinder.com/>
or <http://www.ntis.gov/>.
Jim Senter of Jones Day in Los Angeles pointed me Op Amp Technical Books in
Los Angeles <http://www.opamp.com>.
Barbara Tarvin of Baker & McKenzie in San Diego directed me to Fat Brain's
<http://www.clbooks.com/>.
David R. Bryant, of Legibus, suggested that I contact John C. Huckans,
editor of the Book Source Monthly, who in turn directed me to
<http://abebooks.com>, which describes itself as "combin[ing] the
inventories of over 5700 independent booksellers from around the globe." An
awesome resource, if it truly does what it purports to do.
Alas, none of these wonderful resources (now duly bookmarked) came through
for me in this request, but at least I know where to go when these questions
arise in the future.
Finally, David Rogers of the Chicago office of Sidley and Austin deserves
special recognition and thanks for going above and beyond by tracking down
one of the authors (who, ironically, no longer has the book himself!).
David's outside the box thinking is a shining example of research creativity
and resourcefulness.
My sincere thanks to all who took time out of their busy days to help me.
