I don't remember the guy's name who did this video, but I do remember (1)
that he made a fortune by introducing this trendy idea into the business
world, and by renting his video at $1500 per showing (as I recall), and (2)
that he did not understand the idea of a "paradigm shift," which he lifted
from a philosopher of science named Thomas Kuhn, who was highly amused by
the way his idea was used. It became a kind of pretentious synonym for any
fairly significant change. (3) "paradigm shift" is pretty much over, just
as such earlier business and management fad terms like "interface with,"
"proactive," and TQM have come and gone in the space of the last ten years
or so.
