Hi Colleagues -
I did a stupid thing - I described a video to one of our executive attorneys, spoke it of in glowing terms, now he want's the exact title and source to use in a upcoming program. Problem - I haven't seen it in approx 6-7 years and I don't remember the title or the source. So, ...
If you know of a business/management video describing paradigm shifts and management responses to such, please let me know title and source. Thanks.
FYI - The particular video I described highlighted several examples of paradigm shifts, the most significant being (1) the xeroxprocess and (2) the quartz watch. In the watch scenario the video described how the Swiss had 95% of the watch market world wide; two of their engineers invented the quartz movement, and the Swiss management turned it down, didn't protect the invention and allowed their two engineers to attend an international conference and discuss their work. The Japanese took a look and Texas Instruments took a look and Viola! -
after a few years the Japanese had 80% of the watch market and the US about 15% and the Swiss about 5%. The morale - a company looses real big when they fail to recognize a paradigm shift.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
