How about the difference between a statute and a regulation?

Subject: Top Ten Things Firm Librarians Wish Summer Associates Knew?

Hello,

We're going to try a sort of "Bridge the Gap" session in conjunction with
the Career Services office here, and were hoping to grab the summer clerks'
attention with a kind of a "pre-test" that at least some of them could take
while the others filed in late. The class would begin with grading the
test, and if all goes as planned, they will fail the pretest and then be so
desparate to know the right answers they will fall all over each other to
hear what we have to say. We hope to create our own "teachable moment," so
to speak. Clever, huh? :-)

Anyway, we thought it would be more persuasive if the "what they need to
know" list came from someone who actually knew what they were talking about
instead of us. So, firm librarians, what are the "Top Ten Things Firm
Librarians Wish Summer Associates Knew?" We had in mind simple, concrete
things that we could quiz them on and then teach them (all ten) in an hour,
like "how to update the CFRs," "how much a Westlaw search costs," etc.

I will post the results to the list if there is interest.

Thanks again for your help,

Kelly
