POSITION: Acquisitions/Collections Librarian
SALARY: $38,000 to $45,000 annually, depending on qualifications and
experience

DAYS AND HOURS: Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Evening and
weekend hours may be expected.
BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF JOB: This is a new position that will report to
the Assistant Director of the Law Library. The Acquisitions/Collections
Librarian will be responsible for collection development activities and for
building the library's collections, both print and electronic. This position
manages the library's acquisitions, including coordinating print and
electronic resources, and works some scheduled hours at the reference desk.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, take the lead role in
collection development and selection, using guidelines set in the Law
Library's collection development policy, recommendations of the collection
development team, and final purchase decisions of the Library Director.
Coordinates the work of the law library's collection development team.
Research the availability of information in different formats, obtain price
information, and evaluate resources.
Is responsible for maintaining the library's collection development and
retention policies, including incorporation of changes.
Works with the Head of Technical Services to manage the law library's
acquisitions, including monographs, serials, web subscriptions, and other
electronic resources. Works with the Acquisitions Assistant to order materials
and resolve difficult vendor billing problems. Is primary liaison with vendor
sales departments.
Manages the electronic licensing issues that apply to a growing array of
electronic databases and subscriptions. Under the direction of the Assistant
Director, negotiate terms of contracts to purchase and lease resources.
Oversee fund accounting in the University's IFAS accounting system and the
Innopac library operating system; assist Acquisitions Assistant in preparing
annual projections of expenditures to assist Director in budget development.
Perform professional law library work in Public Services. This involves
working scheduled hours at the reference desk, including evening and weekend
rotations, and performing duties of other Public Services staff when
necessary.
Teach instructional programs for library users.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
---M.L.S. , M.L.I.S. or equivalent from ALA-accredited school.
---Strong service orientation.
---High quality interpersonal, organizational, leadership, team building, and
oral and written communications skills.
---Competency with Windows based software (Word, Excel, etc.).
Preferred:
---Experience working with legal materials or as an acquisitions librarian
strongly preferred.
---J.D. from ABA-accredited law school
---Knowledge of computer technology and Internet.
---Prior experience with INNOPAC
