I don't know of any problems with the foil-backed spine labels that we use, but this touches upon another problem I've been privately grumbling about lately.
Is anyone aware of a vendor who sells cloth repair tape that matches that indescribable color of West's reporters? I once asked our local representative if West itself sold the repair tape and was told that they do not, we should simply purchase a replacement.
As for the spine label problem, you might try wiping the spine with an alcohol wipe before applying the label. If that doesn't work, I would ask your label vendor to send labels from a different adhesive batch. The problem may still be with the labels.
