A couple of weeks ago I asked for help in finding those state
legislatures which provide written (or transcribed) committee reports and
written testimony (or minutes) of committee hearings). I received such
information for 20 states (I also said that if a particular state provided
neither, I did not need to know).
States providing written committee reports: Conn., Cal., Mich.,
Ohio, Wash., Nevada, Hawaii, N.J., Maryland (partial).
States providing written testimony (or minutes) of committee
hearings: Conn., Ore., Utah, Alaska, Oregon, Maryland, Mass. (partial),
Maine (partial), Nevada, N.J.
States providing neither (even though I didn't ask for
this): R.I., S.D., Florida (but does have legislative staff analyses),
Tennessee, Virginia.
Thanks to all the respondents! Fritz Snyder, Univ. of Montana Law
Library. BTW, Montana up thru 1995 provided minutes of hearings but for
1997 and 1999 provided them for the Senate only. The Montana Legislative
Counsel is considering the issue again.
