California Explores the Ocean (CEO) Website http://ceo.ucsd.edu/
A new UCSD Libraries website - California Explores the Ocean (CEO) - has been
publicly opened. CEO features photographs, reports and other related materials from
several historic Scripps expeditions, photographs on marine topics from the San Diego
Historical Society, and a digital version of the California Dept. of Fish & Game's
Fish Bulletin spanning its entire run from 1919. Fish catch statistical datasets have
been extracted from the Fish Bulletin, digitized and will soon be available for
analysis and downloading through the CEO site. The goal of the site is to improve
access for scientists and the public to these unique resources relating to oceans and
oceanography in California. This website grew from a collaboration between the UCSD
Libraries and the San Diego Historical Society with funds from the Federal Library
Services and Technology Act (LSTA). Take a look at thousands of photographs from
Scripps expeditions and seaside life in San Diego, audio files and other content. The
URL for the Fish Bulletin ( http://oac.cdlib.org/dynaweb/etext/fbull/ ) is not yet
permanent, due to server work underway; I will announce when its URL is permanent for
those wishing to catalog it.
