Hello all,
I have the responsibility of assigning numbers to our long standing
in-house publications such Special Report in Applied Marine Science,
Special Scientific Report, Data Report, Educational Series, etc. Many
publications are now coming out on departmental web sites, in CD or some
other electronic format only.
I would like to know what institutions/labs/libraries are doing about
numbering their in-house publications (grey literature) that are available
in electronic format only or both print and electronic format.
1. Are you continuing with consecutive numbers with a note as to format in
cataloging record and the URL?
2. Are you continuing with consecutive numbers with an added designation
such as Special Scientific Report No. 100-e or SSR No.100/CD?
3. Are you starting a new series for electronic publications?
4. Some other designation?
5. Have you given up numbered series altogether?
Thanks for your input. Please reply directly to me.
