Joan, Susan, Steve and Board,
Martha evidenced uncertainty as to continuing as African
Representative at the time of our meeting in Brest. Later, she
recommended Marian Jiagge to fill her role as Regional Representative.
Susan asked me for an interpretation of the Bylaws regarding this
situation, which I sent on February 8th to Susan and the Board. Since then
Martha's situation had been clarified. Martha feels Marian should be the
African Representative.
I think we should take Susan's suggestion as to funding Marian's
IAMSLIC Membership, and clear the wasy for Susan's appointment of Marian
Jiagge as African Representative.
I don't believe any African members applied for funding to attend
this year's conference. Marian, perhaps should have the opportunity to
request this.
I hope this helps to bring you up to date. If you have any other
questions regarding the African meeting I would be glad to help answer
them. Also, at the lunch meeting in Brest , we introduced the African
members to a representative who might provide future funding for the
African group to meet together. I would have to look up his name in the
attendance records.
( On another matter, I recently provided Peter Pissiersens with the
invoice he requested in Feburary to pay for 20 IAMSLIC memberships for
OdinAfrica country participants)
Steve brings up a good point regarding the sponsored members.
Patti Marraro has resigned from the Membership Committee as Chair, and we
need a new Chair for that Committee.
