Dear Susan and Board
A considerable effort was made to fund and bring a number of our colleagues
from African nations to the Joint Iamslic/Euraslic Conference in Brest, and
it would seem a pity if initiatives discussed there cannot be quickly built
on. Perhaps Linda can clarify the course these discussions took.
I have to admit to not being fully aware of the final decision regarding the
leadership of the African Regional Group, has Marian now been asked to lead
this group? I do think that it would be very beneficial for Marian to attend
the next Iamslic meeting in Mazatlan to continue discussions with the Board,
but does she have funding to attend?
Do we know if there has been a Conference Mailshot to African libraries and
whether there have been applications from other African librarians to
attend?
Euraslic is happy to encourage members from North African Countries
bordering the Mediterranean to become Associate Members of Euraslic, but we
cannot realistically extend our region any further.
I don't feel that I know enough about African libraries to offer any further
advice, but perhaps Jean Collins can advise us.
Best regards
Joan

Dear IAMSLIC friends,
Can anyone tell me what is happening to the Africa Regional Group?. We
have been kept in the dark for too long now.We had some discussions with
Linda Pikula whilst in Brest about how to revive the Africa group but
nothing has been heard since then.
Has any one any news?
Regards,
Marian Jiagge(GHANA)
