Dear IAMSLIC friends
Proposals for papers and posters are due in on 17 April, now less than a
month away, so please put the finishing touches to your proposals. There is
still time to consider giving a paper, or preparing a poster, so please give
some thought to this in the next few weeks.
regards, Denis
Mazatlan - call for papers, posters and thematic panel sessions
"Bridging the digital divide", the 28th annual IAMSLIC conference in
Mazatlan, Mexico, 6-11 October, 2002. First call for papers, posters and
thematic panel sessions.
The main theme for the conference is the digital divide and its effect on
aquatic library services in developing countries.
Topics such as: the north-south divide in terms of information technology,
access to the Web (communication facilities and equipment), the prohibitive
costs of scientific journals, especially e-journal deals, cooperative
arrangements to cope with the cost of journals and publishers' discount
schemes to give access to e-journals in developing countries.
Papers and posters that present examples of "bridging the divide", within
developing countries and across the north-south divide, will be especially
welcome.
We would like to see delegates attend from Latin America, the Caribbean and
the Pacific.
