One of our WHOI authors is the editor of the
Encyclopedia of Ocean Sciences so we've been very interested
in getting online access to "our" publication.
We have been diligently pursuing a date when this service
will go online. The latest official word we've had
from Academic Press is "coming later this year."
The contact person & the URLs to which we are directed have
changed numerous times. My hunch is that this is caught in the
recent acquisition of Academic Press/Ideal by Elsevier.
We hope the service will be launched as soon as the new
publisher & Academic work out all the licensing terms.
The premature announcement has generated a lot of scientist
inquiries and generated much ill-will. I do have a call in
to the Elsevier Ocean Sciences editor to see if she can
clarify the status. More when I know something,
