To members of the FIAT listserve:

As some of you know, I teach on-line courses, and have been striving to get
the campus administration to support this type of instruction. Recently, I
was informed by department staff that they were "required" to submit
specific times for courses to be scheduled. I brought this statement to the
attention of Jack Farrell, and also reminded him that I had not yet been
able to change the designation "TBA" to ONL or (see below (ONLINE).

Jack checked into these matters swiftly, and confirmed that we do not have
to provide hours for courses taught on-line. He also said that it will be
possible in "future" (not this Fall) publications of the Class Schedule to
    list them as ONLINE.

Since the number of ONLINE courses can only increase, this is an important
step. I pass it on so that if any of you are planning to offer On-Line
courses, you can follow the manual method noted in Jack's note below until
such time as it becomes automatic.

    Thank you, Jack Farrell!

    Dick,

I have checked with Assistant Registrar Maria Miglas, and she has confirmed
for me that there is, in fact, no requirement that a class meeting time be
submitted for a course to be included in the Class Schedule. My
understanding is that things have been straightened out.

As I mentioned before, future versions of the Class Schedule will include
an "ONLINE" designation in place of the usual "TBA" for your ECS 115AT. If
it's OK with you, we would prefer to use the entire word "ONLINE" instead
    of the somewhat cryptic "ONL."

    Thanks,
             Jack
