This seemed timely given the comments on wanting more input into the
technology, particularly the teaching technology. Apart from the
appalling advertising language ("Exciting new version...") these
folks actually have job titles of "Usability Design Consultant" and
seem to be listening to users.

If anyone is interested in actually participating in this user
testing (rather than just knowing that it is out there) I will be
happy to pass on the contact info for this person.

As you may be aware, a brand new and exciting version of WebCT is
currently being developed. The only way we can know if our design
ideas are meaningful is through feedback from WebCT's diverse users
or potential users - in other words, people like you.

    Study Process:

    · The session would be conducted via the Web using Placeware, with
instructions sent to you in advance.
The study duration is approximately 90 minutes.

    · Each session is divided into 3 segments:

    1. Providing an overview of your use (or non-use) of WebCT
    2. Being asked to view early prototype pages and do [or pretend to
    do] specific tasks
    3. Giving us post-study feedback about what we have done well and
    what might need improvement.

    · Sessions may be attended by 1-2 Silent Observers. If someone should
join the session, they will be introduced at the start of the study.

The data is used for development purposes only.
No participant name is associated with the data.
During the study, users are of course free to stop participating at any time.

    What You Would Need:

    · A PC with a reliable Internet connection that can be used at the
    same time as a telephone.
    · Dial-up at speeds approaching 56k have been successfully used,
    although performance is uncertain.

If you could help us, please reply to this email message with your
availability (dates and times). We will do our utmost to accommodate
    your schedule.

Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions.
I hope to "meet" you soon!
