SUBJECT: Recruitment of Associate Vice Provost International Programs
I am pleased to invite applications and nominations for the position of
Associate Vice Provost--International Programs at UC Davis. This position will
work directly with the Vice Provost--University Outreach & International
Programs and will be expected to provide leadership in the coordination of all
aspects of the campus's existing and expanding international programs.
University Extension, Summer Sessions, and the University Research Expeditions
Program report to this office. The Associate Vice Provost will work closely
with deans, directors and chairs of schools, colleges, divisions and
departments in facilitating and stimulating the development of curricular
offerings, educational programs and research initiatives that advance the
campus objectives in the international arena.
We seek candidates who will embrace our commitment to enrich and enhance the
global learning and research opportunities for our students, faculty and
alumni. Candidates should be tenured associate or full professors or senior
cooperative extension specialists, and have demonstrated skills in program
development and the ability to work effectively in diverse groups and
settings. In addition, they should have experience interacting with
government, not-for-profit, international and/or business organizations and
possess a deep appreciation of and commitment to the mission of a land-grant,
fully engaged university in the 21st century.
This is a half- to three-quarter time, three-year position that carries an
administrative stipend; academic year faculty may receive additional summer
compensation. In addition, funds will be made available to the appointee's
department to cover a portion of the appointee's teaching duties.
Applicants should include a cover letter, current curriculum vitae and any
additional supporting information the candidate chooses to provide. Review of
candidates will begin December 1, 1999. The position will remain open until
