Well I finally got the the UMAX Mac clone running Mac OS 8.5.1 and Quicktime
3.0.2 to capture from the Digital Origin MotoDV card. I ended up putting an
additional 64 meg dimm in to get full interleave on the memory. D.O. had told
me to put the memory control panel disk cache to 128k but this crashed the
computer so I changed it to 1024k. I can now capture to the 2 gig file limit
size sometimes.
I captured some of my tape taken while flying in a friend's Quickie II
homebuilt airplane. I then imported the file into Premiere 5.1a. Some of it
looks good but some of it has mistakes in it. Occasionally two frames from the
beginning of the tape are inserted later in the tape. I also get 1-4 frames
of coloured noise. Or a mixture of both. Or coloured noise on top of the
repeated frames. I have single stepped the tape through the section where the
mistakes occur and they don't show up on the tape. The tape was a Sony HG 120.
I also captured some local flooding on a Hi8 tape. The Hi8 tape seems to have
less mistakes when captured.
Are the misplaced frames from the camera, from the firewire card, from the
MotoDV program or from Premiere?
