It didn't do this cueing when I dubbed.
The pictograms on page 41 of the Japanese manual say (to me)
1) bla bla bla
2) 1) push the DV button
2) Push this other button with "VHS" over it (which did nothing I could
see)
3) push the button #1 then the arrows will light up (which they did)

With this I manually could cue my DV tape with the built-in jog shuttle,
start and stop my SVHS tape and I the video moved between them as I wanted it
to.

Makes me glad I didn't go that route. I got my from a friend who lives
in Japan. And... before you ask... NO. He's not going to do this for others.

If anyone is interested in a translated manual for the deck for about
$100 send me e-mail privately. I'm trying to asses the value of paying a
translater to do this right from beginning to end.
If you are interested in paying $4000 for this deck, or getting it
through another route, then spending $100 for the manual first- to make sure
the deck does what you need, might be valuable to you. Let me know.
