I agree wholeheartedly. Sadly, though, few people do.
I dabbled in becoming a VAR (as those who followed the change of my sig
over time already know) and I quickly tired of spending hours answering
questions and then loosing the sale of equipment I recomended to box houses
who couldn't answer the questions but sold the equipment for a few dollars
less. My experience, and time spent with these people was determined by them
to be worthless.
In my frustration, I considered dropping the mailing lists, where I
spend a lot of time, sometimes answering questions, occassionally answering
correctly. But I realized that I also get a lot back from the lists so,
through no money changes hands, I feel that I am compensated for my
contributions to the list through the contributions of others.
So if anyone else is feeling they aren't appreciated for all the time
they spend answering questions on this list (or vidpro, which I also read)
please be assured that I value your contributions.
