Hi,
Here is some info to mull over:
EditDV and Final Cut are both applications that have lots of buttons to =
figure out. All I can say about learning times is that I have been at a =
couple of seminars from Apple recently and no one from Apple has been able =
to show me more than how to capture video, put it in the timeline, a =
dissolve and a title. This doesn't surprise me because the Apple guys =
have to know everything else under the sun. But, at the last one they =
gave a system to a guy to learn over a couple of weeks and he put some =
time into it, at least a few days and this was all he could show.
Enough on the time to learn, they both take time.
>From what I've seen FCP has more special effects as they tried to be a =
little like After Effects. Because all these apps are quicktime, you can =
use After Effects with EditDV.
If rendering time is important to you, EditDV is the clear winner.
Digital Origin has finished running tests on the render times. EditDV is =
nearly twice as fast. Please see our web page.
http://digitalorigin.com/products/editmac/bench-vs-fcp.html
If you would like more info about our tests that isn't on the web page, =
please email me and I'll forward the info from our tester.
In my opinion they are both good packages. FCP is $999 and EditDV is $599.=
EditDV has already won lots of awards and I'm sure FCP will soon. The =
good news for users is that they now have another choice!
Thanks,
Kip
