Dear Charles,
What a breath of fresh air, thanks for responding. I have the new Blue and
green G3 with it's built in Firewire card. Being in Indonesia at the moment,
where Mac stuff, along with a lot of other stuff is not readily available, I
will have to download whatever software I finish up getting. I've read all I
can find on the Web and in Mags available here, But I'm still not sure
whether I will need the full package of Edit DV or the software download.
Have you seen any reports on the new Mac Final Cut edit software. All I can
find comes from Apple Mac, I'm wondering, although it seems very expensive,
if this would be the best solution in the long run. The learning curve may
also be a bit less steep than Edit DV from what I have read.
I'm not lazy, I'm just frustrated, I have all of these DV tapes, which I am
bursting to put together and no way of doing it.
Thanks again for your help.
Bob Slatyer.

You could try using EditDV along with the Digital Origin Premiere plug-ins.
This would be an excellent option with the XL-1 which seems to work very
well with the B&W G3 using EditDV.
You could then decide which app you wanted to use for what edits after
you've captured with EditDV if you have the Premiere plugs.
