I'm fairly new to this myself but you might check out MotoDV from Digital
Origin (RADIUS).
It has a very cool VCR type control interface that runs my SonyVX1000 with a
capture window to boot.
I know it's cross platform so there's no problem there and you might even be
able to get away with the
older version 1.1 is the minimum that seems to work (thats's what I'm using).
The website is www.digitalorigin.com but you can probably find it used for
sale if you do a little ishoping.
