No. It assembles during record. The only way to continue your time code
is to take a moment and back up over previously shot footage and then the
camera will pick up that time code (I'm pretty sure of this.... not positive!)
This also means that, when finished an important scene or shoot, roll 10
seconds of the ground, the sky... something you can cut into later to
continue the time code.
In other news... I had this same problem when the internal lithium
battery went out in my pro Hi8 camcorder. We didn't realize this until we
were in post and the time code kept resetting. So we created sub-names for
all the resets in the time code: Reel: Hunt1, Hunt1.2, Hunt1.3, Hunt1.4.
It's not the greatest of solutions because the batch capture forces the
tape to eject when asking for the next reel. We have to A) turn the deck from
remote to local, B) insert the tape, C) fast forward to the next time code
reset, D) but the deck into remote, E) tell the computer we _have_ inserted
the next reel.
