You mean RealVideo compressed AVIs? Then you're stuck with the RealVideo
player, and the Mac version kind of...ummm...well...sucks.

If not RealVideo, then what problems do you see with using QuickTime 3 or
later to play AVIs? The only problem I see is with the Indeo 4 and 5
codecs. Unless you have a fast G3, then the performance is pretty bad
with those. Can't imagine why Intel wouldn't have put more effort into
their Mac implementation....
