Re: We share most but not all

Denny ,
my point is to get this information out in the open. To help all of us as a whole. I am quite sure most of us are being underpaid for the technical quality of our work. If we cant be honest here, who will be. Certainly not out HR, and magazines still don't have us rightly defined. My Title is a mere fraction of what I do. But HR insists that I am getting paid the lower end of the industry standard. I think this is crap and I wouldn't be surprised that some of us are in the same boat. Now you freelancers would help us corporates by averaging a per hour rate by your yearly net.

I like my privacy as much as the next guy, but we need to share this info. Since our talent sector is new, I think its safe to say that not too many people know what the rate should be. I know some editors make quite a bit, so do camera people, and graphic artists, etc etc. But since we cover most these things and more, what are we worth?

Look I'm not here to sell you a time share, or want to know what you DO with your money.. I am simply trying to define a baseline to go from. And yeah I would love to take this information to my boss or HR and say"Here, you see...I am underpaid....redefine my pay scale and PAY ME MORE."

You are talented people, you deserve at least the average going rate. But we can't do this here UNLESS we all open up and share. What would it hurt?

Sean

Periodically, trade magazines do surveys along these lines. Perhaps
one of those could help you.
