The current crop of G3 Series 1998 models will only mirror. The newest
models, arriving now, G3 Series 99, are not only thinner, lighter, run
longer, cooler, but also feature virtual desktop as standard fare. You can
still mirror the external display, or you can have a virtual desktop that
spans between the two displays. This is the biggest feature I miss in my 1998
G3 Series. In addition the high end 99 model also has DVD playback hardware
on the motherboard.
