Traditionally Cinemaphotographers used real ladies stockings (nylons) so you
could experiment with these to get a feel for how they work. Black, white
and brown have all been used to give different softening effects. You have
to keep the depth of field small (large aperture) to avoid seeing the
structure.
Suggest you ask her permission first!!
