Dear Donna,

I have one observation that might help. A common scenario is that you want
to connect the G3 PB to a video projector (e.g. in a classroom). These
projectors are often only able to display a single resolution (e.g.
800x600 at 75 Hz). I find that if I plug the PB in and then try several
resolutions in the Monitors control panel, I usually find one that works.
If the resolution that works happens to be different from the resolution of
the built-in LCD screen, the built-in screen is darkened but you can still
work on the other one.

In my view this approach is not as flexible as the one taken with some of
the older macs, which seemed to be able to detect anything and allowed
mirroring or overlapping screens.
