We use softFX and warm black pro-mist (AKA Playboy filter) to give us a softer look. Both a number 1. The SOFT FX when combined with FILMLOOK processing made it look VERY close to 16mm. I use the warm black pro mist to make talking heads look younger and healthier. Sometimes even 1 is too much (read obvious) and a ½ would be better. My DVCAM 200 uses a 52mm, On full wide you tend to see the corners rounded out a bit. So you must not go out to full wide. If you double stack, it really becomes a problem. Most good still camera shops will have the filter at a good price.

Have fun

It does the same thing as turning down the detail on a video camera. It
softens the image without making it look blurry. It helps to overcome a CCD's
inherrant "edginess" caused by the detail circuitry.
