Given that each individual letter can have different size, format and
other attributes, We can treat each letter like a video clip, which can have
different speed, filters and othr aspects attached to it.
Premiere boggs down when I go past 200 clips. I doubt your writing
program boggs down when you pass 200 _letters_ let alone 200 words. 100 pages
has got to be many tens of thousands of words, I don't know how many letters.
Most text in writing programs does not change in format, style and size.
Most clips in long video projects do not have filters or effects on them.
Still, text editors can handle _lots and lots_ of text compared to how many
video clips can be handled in NL software.
