How about less than $5500 per station (Just over $11,000 if the station
includes a DSR-20 deck and a XL1 DV camcorder) for all the parts and
pieces needed for a student station which includes a G3/266 with 160 MB
of RAM, 4 GB Boot drive plus a 16.8 GB data drive (73 minutes of DV
storage), 19 inch RGB monitor, 13 inch Sony NTSC monitor, Bose Speakers
or good set of headphones, FireMAX-C card that is bundled with Premiere
5.1 and Boris FX, a Sony TRV9 camcorder that has analog in/out as well as
FireWire in/out.

The advantage for FireWire is that transfers are digital and remain the
same after many trips in and out of the computer. This eliminates costly
storage as well as makes life easier for the lab assistant or teacher to
get the station ready for the next class.
