I'm set up right now to sell my NuBus VVS system so I installed 8.5 on an
external drive. Very sweet and works well on my 7100. I dragged over the VVS
control panels and extensions (all version 2.5.1, which is what's recommended
for the NuBus machines) and the FWB software and the PBBlockMove Init.
Upon restarting, the Mac OS window comes up, extensions load and then,
when the time coems for the desktop to set up, you get the menubar, with no
words on it. A cursor that moves, and that's it.
I pared everything down to just the VVS extensions and I got the same
results. I didn't have the time or the warewithall to try and pare down the
system extensions to find out if it was a specific conflict, so there's still
work that can be done.
