It's good to see that you finally got _a_ 7100 to work for you, even if
it wasn't the 7100 you started with. :)
As for the DV capabilities... as a used of both Firewire-based DV and
Radious VVS (three feed from each other and both passing through the save AV
router) I have to say that DV offers an incredible image for the data rate,
and it is a very nice and low data rate at that. While it is nice to vary it
like is possible with the VVS (and which I have made extensive use of) it's
also nice to know exactly how many minutes you can put on your drives.
If you digitize lots of video regularly, DV (through a DSR-20 deck) can
be as simple as working with the VVS, with the lower data rate. If you do it
sparingly, and what you have works for you, then you might as well stay with
what you got and keep pocketing the profits. Maybe get the Newer Tech G3 chip
which is _supposedly_ designed to be compatable with the older VVS stuff
(though I haven't had a chance to test it.
THat would speed up your work and give you back more time as well.
