OT-the pace of DV, have I been asleep?

I'm a PAL+Mac/VVS(nubus)+AG-EZ1(no firewire)+Premiere 4.2.1, small
corporate videographer wrestling with the pace of DV development, and
finding the upgrade routes narrowing down. Now that VVS PCI is apparently a
dead product (but maybe good for the second-user market) my attention has
to turn to Firewire products; I think ??

So not only am I looking at a suitable card, but effectively looking to
replace all of my kit, computer, video card and camera; business has picked
up recently (which pleases me enormously) but when do I get to spend some
of my earnings on food and stuff like that ?! rather than video stuff.

I know prices are pretty low now, but the replacement cycle just gets
shorter, and we're talking all new technologies, not just the hardware bits
and pieces.

I expect my output to remain either S-VHS masters or short run VHS copies,
so DV out is not yet an issue; so how do I go full DV in and analogue out ?
or should I prepare to bite the bullet and look at DV decks as well ?

I've just re-read a couple of posts to the list from Charles F mcConathy
(5/11/97) and Dave nacy II (5/11/97) which seem to have addressed these
issues a while ago (when I was sleeping or just immersed in looking for new
business).I guess things have moved on since then. Some of you guys must
have had to wrestle with this sort of issue already, any suggestions ?
cheers, alan
