Haven't used either myself but I believe the Citizens' are passive matrix
whereas the Sonys' are active matrix (which is better than passive).

If you want a more reasonably priced alternative to the 3" Sony (which I
think is $500 from B&H) check Marshall's units (www.mars-cam.com)

You can get the 4" active matrix "Pro" unit with 2 video inputs for
around $324 from B&H (special order - they don't stock it yet). This unit
also has adjustments for color, brightness, tint, and red & green drive.
Weighs 1 lb in a nice aluminum housing.

The Marshall is the unit I will probably get for my XL-1 ....... once I
figure out what I'm going to do as far as coming up with a shoulder mount
rig for the camcorder - and how I'm going to mount the LCD to it.
