It's one of our best investments. However, I work in a mostly mac environment, and I don't see anyway to make an AVI file with either Media Cleaner or Premiere, or QT pro, for that matter. I could make a crossplatform movie compressed with Indeo or Cinepak, but they would be quicktime movies, not AVI's. And while qt3 (which we use and distribute with our other products) can read avi's, the product that we are using the avi movies for cannot make QT calls, only VFW calls -hence, the need for an AVI. See, that's the problem, I need to make a rotten old outdated awful looking AVI! (It should be called AVIeeeeee!)

While I certainly can make a QT movie from an AVI movie in Premiere, Media Cleaner, or QT3 pro, I need to make an AVI from a QT movie. I have a convertor, but it has flaws, and I'm shooting for the best quality I can get. (Pardon me while I laugh till I cry).

My version of Debab (4.5 for windows) just can't seem to read QT files. It will see them if I have it look for all files, and it will open the file (it appears as a single pixel of black). When I try to save the movie as an avi, the program says it can't read the origanal document. These are movies that I flattened in Premiere 4.2 with QT3 as my version of quicktime. If I double click them on the Windows 95 machine, they pop right open in QT3 movieplayer.

Now I have to admit, Debab for windows is being wonky (it won't resave a simple AVI file; a task I've done numerous times- but it's handling images ok) and I think I need to reinstall it. I can see and open the avi file- unlike the QT. I probably need to hop on the net and look for a patch (I think I got one specifically dealing with movie issues a couple months ago, but who knows, windows probably ate it or I accidently deleted it, or I offered the wrong brand of beer to the computer gods). So I am not without hope.

I really appreciate the terrific input, and I apologize for my inaccuracies and general lack of clarity- I blame the computer. I'll let y'all know what happens, hope you guys aren't sick to death of this....
