Well, I'm not a lens "scientist" but I must say that I have zero problems with
the XL-1 16x lens when I zoom in, focus (obviously manually), zoom out (still
in focus) and zoom again to the same object --it remains in focus. However. I
exclusively use the zoom lever on the Right-hand hold, and have found that one
has to be very careful not to touch the zoom "ring" even a tiny bit, since it
can mess up the focus. I have tested it repeatedly used the push Auto Focus
buttom, to see if the return to telephoto was really in focus.
