Hi, This is a forwarded message from Liz Gibson. (She is not on the
lists anymore as she has a new job with IT).

    Hi Everyone

Apologies to faculty for multiple postings...

The following websites have been nominated as top rated Web-based Inquiry
Activities (WBI's) for learning Science in 1-6 U.S. Classrooms. I thought
you might all be interested in having the list. I have included a quote of
the criteria a website has to meet to be on the list, followed by the list
    of sites.

    Liz
    ========

"To be included in the list, the activity must contain at least
the first three essential features of classroom inquiry, as
described in Inquiry and the National Science Education
Standards (Olson & Loucks-Horsley, 2000), and now modified to
address the possibility that learners in such science inquiries
could draw conclusions rather than formulate explanations
    (Trowbridge, Bybee, and Powell, 2000):

    1. Learners are engaged by scientifically oriented questions.
(Scientifically oriented questions may be stated explicitly or
may be implied as a task.)
    2. Learners give priority to evidence, which allows them to draw
conclusions and/or develop and evaluate explanations that
    address scientifically oriented questions.
    3. Learners draw conclusions and/or formulate explanations from
evidence to address scientifically oriented questions."

"It is written for a 9th grade honors biology class and refers
to their textbook as a resource, but the activity itself is
    appropriate for any level science."
