Hi Everyone,
I'm really excited about starting another service-filled year. I think your
board is going to do excellent things! Even though the summer hasn't
ended yet, there are some events coming up that I think you should
be aware of.
<b>UOP Circle K General Mtg</b>
Tomorrow (Wed 9/3) I will be going to Stockton for the Univ. of Pacific
Circle K General Meeting. You are all welcomed to tag along and see
what another Circle K club is doing. We are the only club in our
division that hasn't started school. I will be leaving around 745pm
from Davis. The meeting is from 9-10pm. There are still spaces in my
car if you need a ride. Email me back and let me know if you are
interested.
<b>Halloween Party</b>
Also, I am in the process of getting donations for our annual
Halloween Party. Last year, we threw a very successful event and
hopefully we can do it again this year for the kids. It can't happen
without your help so PLEASE if you are interested in joining the
planning committee, let me know!! We have a lot to do as October 31
approaches.
<b>ALS Walk to D'Feet</b>
Another important event coming up is the ALS Walk. ALS, also known
as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a neuromuscular disease that ultimately
leaves patients paralyzed physically but not mentally. This year, our
district has pledged to raise at least $5000 for the cause. You can
join the effort by registering to WALK on <b>Saturday, October 4</b>
in Sacramento. We will be joined by the UOP Circle K club and
Solano Community College club. UN Reno Circle K will also be
walking but they will be doing so in Carson City, NV. Since we start
school late, it is VERY important for you to start collecting donations
NOW. Please visit http://www.alssac.org/feet.htm and register. Our
team name is "Circle K Capital Division." I have extra donation
envelopes that you can use to collect money from sponsors. If you
would like me to send one to you, just email me your address.
Since this is a district event, clubs throughout
California-Nevada-Hawaii will be participating in walks. The division
that raises the most money will be recognized by the ALS Association
and at District Convention this year. So let's try to raise as much
money as we can for this wonderful cause!
If you have any questions about the events above, please feel free to
contact me.
