Annie Platoff, a librarian here who's
working with our Russian materials,
needs a list of the 83 administrative
subdivisions of Russia (current),
and does not want to use the LC transliterations
because she has noticed in her reading/research
that this form of transliteration does not
seem to be what is commonly used
outside the library world.
She has already looked at several
different reference tools (e.g., NMA's
online gazetteer; Columbia gaz; Admin subdivisions; etc.) and so far
the only solution she's coming up
with is to look up the name of each
of these divisions in the most current
Merriam-Webster's geographical
dictionary and compile her own
list, and in the work she's doing
note that the forms of names for these
divisions are all taken from MWGD.
Does anyone know of any other reference source
that would list these administrative divisions
of Russia as they currently are?
Any assistance is much appreciated.
