    Free DVD Set of the Louisiana GIS Digital Map Available

    The Coastal Studies Institute at LSU has recently produced a new,
    updated, and comprehensive version of the Louisiana GIS Digital Map. The
    two DVD set is a compilation of publicly available geospatial data
    supplied by numerous federal and state agencies in Louisiana. The data
    include over 450 feature layers representing the following geospatial
    themes: biological, cadastral, cultural, economic, elevation,
    environmental, geodetic, geophysical, governmental units, hydrography,
    imagery, infrastructure, land use, map reference, and transportation.

    The DVD also includes software for displaying and manipulating the map
    features using ArcReader and contains map documents compatible with
    ArcGIS.

    The DVD set was published by the Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinator's
    Office, Office of the Governor primarily for oil spill prevention,
    contingency planning, response, and natural resource damage assessment;
    however, the data can be used for a large diversity of unrestricted
    applications and educational purposes.

    If you would like to receive a set, please send an email to

    Elaine Smyth esmyth@LSU.edu.

    ****Deadline for making the request is Monday, February 25, 2008.
