Mary,
I think you do well in pointing out the plusses and minuses. I think that
even if I felt that theoretically the plusses well-outweighed the minuses,
it would still be very difficult for me to justify the time and energy to
update such a list. I would much rather take that same energy to doing
original (or copy) cataloging of the items over which we do not have
bibliographic control. If I only have the staff and money to do one thing,
it will be to catalog the collection in Socrates.
